hi, ive crewed on a few dragsters over the years and ive known a couple of guys that have used similar techniques, always worked on v8s prone to cracks around the cylinders, just remember its only really good for the drag strip as you cant run a cooling system, and can be a bit tricky getting optimum temp for good consistant runs

hi..
what we are planning to do is fit some liners then fill the waterways up to the water pump level (about 60mm) from the top of the block so we still
have some cooling around the combustion part of the cylinder...

Tone, did you strip the engine to find what happened, it looked fatal, especially that piece of the liner that was blown out of somewhere...

Was the head ok?

I've been running with a half 'cemented' block. The idea being to strengthen it up, especially at the bottom end as we still ran water at the hot top end.

It was OK for road use, just pushed up the oil temp a bit as obviously the bottom end was now effectively oil cooled only.

Was it worth it? Debatable on a RB26 engine, which do split their blocks of course. My previous N1 block held up OK and since this was an even stronger RRR Block probably pointless!

If it gives you peace of mind and you run a decent oil cooler it is unlikely to hinder and may well help.
